Simple, high-quality olive oil is something that everyone can get excited about. When I was a waitress at Lupa (Mario Batali’s restaurant) we received a bottle of Tenuta di Capezzana Extra Virgin Olive Oil and I cherished it! It is so important to use high-quality ingredients and this olive oil made anything taste so delicious.

Best Cookbook to Give
My cookbook of choice is Thomas Keller’s Bouchon. If God himself appeared to me in golden flowing robes and wrote out his divine recipe for Roast Chicken on golden tablets set a light by the power of the holy spirit, I would thank God for his many blessings and the recipe, but still follow Keller’s recipe from this book.

Best Gourmet Food Item to Give
I love Maldon Salt, even though I have a whole shelf in my cabinet dedicated to salts (it’s a problem). It’s very simple and available at Whole Foods, but I think lots of people still aren’t hip to it. It’s so feathery, flaky and crispy. It makes anything taste amazing. Sprinkle on salads, finish meats, and even desserts like caramels love this salt. You can put it in a fancy bottle to make it look prettier, but every time I see that white and green box I get excited anyway.

Best Cookbook to Give
I own many cookbooks and throughout my adult life, I’ve spent a great deal of time pouring through books and recipes. I can’t say enough good things about Thomas Keller’s Ad Hoc at Home.
