Eating at Olive & Bonacini’s latest venture, O&B Canteen (330 King Street W.) can be a truly blissful experience. Just check out the facial expression of my pal Jason, who’s clearly lost himself in the perfectly scrambled eggs. But there’s much more than traditional breakfast offerings here at the Canteen, including a butty or two.

What the F is a butty? I had no idea either, so read on and we’ll both get to the bottom of this age-old mystery.

This past Saturday two of my very dear friends, Noreel and Romina, tied the ol’ knot. And they did so at an intimate venue, with lovely unique details, over my favourite weekend meal — brunch! It was the first brunch wedding I’ve ever attended, and I was very excited to sample the food. So once the ceremony ended and I dabbed my eyes dry after their hilarious and touching vows, it was all about custom-made breakfast sandwiches and frozen hot chocolate drinks.

Whaaat! Breakfast sandwiches? You heard right. Forget dry chicken and overdone roast beef, read on to hear how this wedding made the food unforgettable.

When The Stockyards Smokehouse and Larder (699 St. Clair West) announced they were starting to serve Sunday brunch, I immediately added it to my to-eat list. I’d previously fallen deeply in love with their Rib Tips and Fried Chicken, so what else was there to do but indulge again, but this time at an earlier hour. No longer is it considered unnecessary torture to make yourself wait until the afternoon to eat the best fried chicken in town, plus now it’s paired with waffles!

Chicken & Waffles, sounds like Roscoes! Find out why Smokehouse gives the L.A. institution a run for its money.

There’s great charm in finding a local diner you can make your own — a place where the cooks know your name, your order and the rest of your family. Avenue Diner (222 Davenport Rd.) isn’t this place for me (yet), but it clearly has a place in the hearts of its many loyal patrons.

Why is this diner filled with regulars? Read on for their classics that draw people back again and again.

Simply put, Fire on the East Side has one of the tastiest, most pleasant brunches around. The ambiance is casual but lively, the service is friendly and the food is better than we’re used to at this time of day. Before you start thinking they’re located in Leslieville, please note that when they’re referring to the “east side” they literally mean three doors east of Yonge St.

What’s the east side got to make your morning memorable? Read on for the good, the so-so and the oh so tasty.
