My trip down to New York City a few months ago meant lots of good eatin’ and being reunited with the other Plato Putas co-founder, my dear pal Jas. The highlight was Sunday morning at the Brooklyn Flea (North 6th & Kent in Williamsburg, BK). We browsed through vintage finds and ate tacos (two for $6) on the waterfront looking towards the Manhattan skyline. Here’s a look at a few other noteworthy food moments from my trip.

Dining alone in Vancouver became par for the course when I visited the coastal city for 10 days for work. Sure there was constant rain, but the 12-degree weather and my long list of must-eat restaurants meant I was practically skipping through the streets in glee. From teeming bowls of ramen and Japanese hot dogs to tacos and a terrific wine bar, here’s a round-up of the best meals I had in my beloved Van City.

One of the bonus perks of my day job is traveling (and therefore eating) my way across Canada. Rather than writing posts for each individual restaurant, I’ve started doing city-focused Trip Reports. I always do food research before I travel (business or pleasure) for both affordable options and one or two destination to-die-for meals.

Each report includes mini write-ups and pictures of the great meals I consumed, plus a bonus list of restaurants I didn’t get to visit but are recommended by other blogs, travel sites or Chowhound. So far I’ve covered Saint John, NB, and San Diego, with Vancouver coming soon. In the meantime, here’s everything from my most memorable meal to a delightful working breakfast in the bone-chilling city of Edmonton, AB.

My second trip across Canada for the day job has just began, and the first stop brought me to Canada’s east coast. Armed with a list of must-try restaurants, I enjoyed high-quality sushi, ate three times at one spectacular restaurant, shared some brew with the crew, and brought some lobsters home. Here’s a round-up of the best restaurants that Saint John, New Brunswick, has to offer.

If you’re craving more than a massive Popcorn Chicken, here’s everything you need to know about eating in San Diego. I stayed in the Gaslamp District which is fairly touristy and thus harder to find great restaurants. So I did some serious research before heading down (or as I like to call it, pre-production) to find the best places to eat. Thankfully we ended up with several memorable meals, including sushi, Mexican and a good dinner. I already reported on the obscenely massive brunch at local favourite Hash House a Go Go, so here I round up the rest of the best, on a modest budget.

Read on for the places you have to hit up when you’re hungry in the SD.
